Pinfish King, myself and a couple of buddies are heading out this weekend. They are heading out Friday and i'll be catching up for the Saturday trip, if the weather holds. Hope the grouper have stayed shallow, 2 of us will be taking our free diving gear to try and shoot a few. Maybe the scallops are at 20ft ? I do remember Tom saying last year they got some mango's real shallow, at least i can think about it. More than likely the seas will be 5 to 6 ft. Look for the follow up next week !

Saturday's update, well you know the story, we hit the water, headed to the old # 1 birdrack, as we were slinging penfish in the livewell , we had a chum slick going, and noticed bunches of bait hitting it which weren't pens. We catch a few of them on hook & line, small ELY's.( The flats are covered in bait , more than i've seen in years ) We proceed to be professional and throw the cast net, now that was worth watching. We netted a few by accident ( just because there were so many ) and we hit one big net full. The big storm of 8/6 chased us and everyone else back to the hill. We eat lunch, watch it rain, about 1 head back out, pick up a few more baits, most of the pen's lived so we weren't to bad off. We hit about 4 spots, found one new one , never got past 32 ft . Picked up 7 Keeper, 4 gags, 3 reds the biggest one being a 25" red. We threw back probably 30 shorts at least. We never got to dive because the day was cut so short. We gave it up about 5 30 , cleaned out fish and threw in the towel. We could have got more time inshore fishing but our crew stated they would rather fish for grouper for 15 minutes that trout for 4 hrs. Hope to get back in about 2 weeks to give it another shot , surely with the new limits our catches will be looking much better, how hard can it be to catch 3 grouper. frank

I had a buddy who freedove down about 15 ft and he said it was poor... looks kinda dark in 20 ft , just looking at the fish we were pulling up i'd say at least 15ft hopefully getting better. I never made it to deep water , i'm sure its even better..
