Spun prop??

Post by rocket »

Was heading down the Aucilla (WOT) for some late afternoon/evening topwater redfish action when my 25 Yammie started to over rev, and the boat started to slow down. It was just like if you try to get out of the hole, but you forgot to trim the motor down first. Or when you have weeds around the prop. Prop was clean, and had no obstructions.
I had to turn around at the mouth, and almost idle back to the ramp.
After consulting the resident Wacissa boating expert (Fishmasterson) by phone this evening he informed me that it sounded like a spun prop.
I plan on taking the boat to Wavel Monday, but was wanting some other input.
Thanks,
Rocket

My Jonnyrude 25 with SS prop just did the same thing. When it first happened I was full throttle, felt like I hit grass. Got worse so as I couldn't reach a plane.
Went and got a new prop.

I don't know if there are any prop shops around here, but it seems like there would be. Take it to one and they should be able to fix the prop good as new for about $20. We had our 25 Evinrude do the same a couple months ago running a river back home.

That's exactly what happened to me!
I'm hoping Wavel will know someone who can rework the prop I have. I'd rather not buy a brand new one, if the can fix the one I have for the fraction of the cost.

I had mine done through Shields. Company from Tampa picks them up on Tuesday or Wendsday and your prop is back in a week. $35 to get it repacked.
