Here we are early August and the fishing is terrific. Good trout, redfish, Spanish, blue fish, lots of flounder and a limit of scallops can top off your day. The jacks have moved into the flats and can be the fight of the day. The schools of jacks not only raise the water but your blood pressure too. They love my gold spoons and have taken them on many cast that was meant for red fish. The sharks are still hanging around in good number and we have landed some monsters. The tarpon are still here, but its hit and miss with more miss than hit, If you go after tarpon only bring your lunch as it is sure to be a long day. The gold spoon is still the ticket on the flats or sling your mullet under a cork. Have a safe trip Captain Goodrich

How's the water, has it cleared up? Have the trout been in the deeper water 10-15? I'm planning on heading over this weekend, if the weather and work holds...Thanks for any info...

Chalk: the water is clear enough for scalloping at the Old Salt Works cabins on 30-E (or is it 30-A?). Even at Indian Pass, it's about as clear as I've seen it. We were there Sunday through this morning (Wednesday).

We didn't get into deeper water since we didn't have the boat. We didn't come up on trout in the shallows and flats, but the redfish are gorging themselves on fiddler crabs all the way up to ankle-deep water on an incoming tide.

The trout are on the avg 6 foot depth but still good ones 3 foot. Water is clearing quick, but still not avg. The west side is clearer and the head is clear. east side still the worst.
