Lanark 8/18

Post by noleflyfisher »

Having avoided the Dennis aftermath long enough and seeing a forecast calling for light winds and sunshine, I took a day off and headed to Lanark. Got a late start and was on the water at 11:00. Fished the last couple hours of the flood tide and first few hours of the fall. Water is still stained and I spooked lots of fish that I didn't see until it was too late. Ended the day with seven reds. Probably saw twenty or thirty. All fish came on an all black Mangrove Critter or a chartreuse over white Clouser. I ran down to St. George and it looks like the east end was breached or damn near close to it as a result of Dennis. Also created some nice bars on a few of the bayside flats. Good to be back on the water but sight fishing conditions are still pretty tough. October can't get here fast enough. A few pics:

Nice fish, nole. I bet those reds are a hoot on a fly rod.

The conditions have been tough since Dennis paid us a visit. I'm with you. Come on October.
What was I supposed to do today?
