Live Oak Island 8/20

Took a casting rod with a Yo-Zuri Mag Darter knock-off on it and snuck off from a family function to wade down to the Rock Pile (southern most tip of the island), after 4 as the tide was still high but beginning to fall well. 6th cast, BAM, slot red. As I was getting him unhooked and on the stringer a pair of water roaches (jetskis) buzzed by, but they kept right on going so didn't seem to mess things up too bad. A dozen casts later, BAM, rat red. A just a little bit later, BAM, a never saw it before it cut me off on a rock, but pretty sure it was another slot size red.

Ding-Dong and double dammit, there goes another Mag Darter knock-off. I got these on the other side of the planet (Japan) for less than $4.00 apiece, that's the third one I've lost, and I don't know where I can get more around here. And I sure don't want to pay BPS $9.99 a copy for the real thing. :smt012

These rocks are often good for wading on this tide for reds, trout, sometimes big trout, and the occasional cobia. Several points around the refuge shoreline are rocky like this. I don't have any numbers, I just know where some are by poking around and I'm sure there're more I haven't found. The southeast point of Patty's Island is rocky like this.
