K Tower 8-20

Left the Fort at 7:15 with Chuck,Tommy and Will. Nice smooth ride to K Tower. We heard the amberjack were stacked like cord wood. About half way there saw the shark fin a foot out of the water and barely moving. We pulled along side and 5 feet away saw a Tigershark 9-10 feet long. Underneath was a Cobia about 4 !/2 feet long, they spooked and we went ahead on our journey.
Arriving at the Tower we quickly anchored in anticipation of cordwood like amberjack. Mackeral and Bonito were busting bait on the surface in every direction. Our live pinfish and squid over the side began producing right away. A short red grouper a few dozen pink mouth grunts then finally amberjack. He was short. Too bad. Then a few grunts then nothing. We decided to move to a new number a short distance away. Cobia 35 to the fork in the box. Really large barracuda all around the boat. Dropped back down, keeper Red grouper about 12 pounds in the box. Then a 8 pound Red grouper in the box. Then short reds and more grunts. When they were released very few made it back down because of the barracuda.
We decided to leave and do some trolling on the way back in. Went about a mile when the port rod went down. A few minutes later we landed a really large Bonito. Put the rods back out, about a mile the starboard rod went down, a 22 pound Kingfish in the box. Rods back out and trolling. Dead ahead birds diving, water churning. We had casting rods ready. As soon as the jigs hit the water we were all hooked up.Again, really large Bonito and Jack Crevalle. By then we were all exhausted and hot hot hot.Put the boat in high gear and headed home with abox full of fish.
Wish you guys could have been there.

Nice day. A long ride to K from the Fort. Do you guys do well a few miles east of K? There is some good rock there, I hear, but way too far out for me.

Good Report!

We did 40 mph all the way . Only took about 35 minutes from the St. Marks Range marker. We had to stop near there to pull our pinfish traps.

JT, 4 guys and nobody has a camera??

Not that we need you to back up your impressive, wonderful and extraordinary story or anything but it would be nice to see those perty fish... unless some were shy of the minimum size regulations :o

Save me those nasty Bonito's , good for nothing things, just throw em in your freezer and when you get 4 or 5 i'll swing by and pick them up for disposal. :-D
