The folks at work don't like me gettin' overtime - and with travel last week and a trip to St. Augustine later this week...I HAD :-D to take the day off.

Put in at the LH at 7:30ish. Headed East to my usual grass. Calm seas, little to no wind and a falling tide. Water is getting clearer every time I head down there. Saw more scallops down there than I have so far this year. Took turns tryin' the CT with a DOA shrimp and a ChugBug topwater. I'd never really tried a topwater in salt, but figured I'd give it a try today. Right off the bat caught several short trout on the CT. Picked up a nice little ladyfish on the CT that gave quite a fight. Until it jumped, I didn't know what was on there...dang thing was strippin' line like it ment business.

Switched over to the Chugbug and played around with it for a bit. Ended up with three trout hittin' it - including a decent 16"er. Seems like the little ones aren't too into the plugs - but it gets the attention of the bigger fish.

Low tide hit at 11:30 or so and moved over to mess around the bars at the mouth of the St Marks. Nothin' on my redfish lure. Ended up with a neat little fish on the CT - I couldn't figure out if it was a Remora or a baby Cobia. I looked and couldn't find the usual Remora suction cups on the top of it's head. :smt017

Picked up a nice fightin' little bluefish on the chugbug at a cut between the bars.

By that time it was 1:30ish and the storm clouds were startin' to head in. Nice day on the water - even with the heat, it beats sittin' at the desk. At the ramp, ran into EddieJoe and the Extreme Flats boat. Man...that's a fine boat he's built.

Thanks Dave7, nice pictures. Way to get after them. Nothing better than middle of the week fishing.

WTG Dave7  Forget that idea of small trout not being intrested in your plug, ALL trout love a big noisy bait, they'll jump on 1 the same size as them. Stick with it, topwater is a hoot  .

BTW I hate you for fishing on a Tuesday ;-) .

Outstanding report and very nice pictures! Glad to hear about the water clear'n up. Sounds like you did very well with your time management at work :D

Small fish in question gets a "baby Cobia" for my vote.

My vote as well. The colors are very prominent in juvenile fish. Here's a little guy my daughter landed a few months back:

dave7.... I know that much of what makes a great picture is the attention to light, framing, and composition by the photographer but am curious as to what kind of camera you use. Keep up the good work. :D

I prefer the Italian pronouciation "COBIO". like corn cob. Regardless of how you pronounce it its' still a cobia, cobio, ling, lemonfish etc.,etc.
