Put the canoe in at around 7:30 and fished all morning between the headwaters and Big Blue. Stuck to the fly rod until just before heading in and then decided to see if I could pick up a few on the trusty Rapala. Water was crystal clear as usual until the motorboats and summerfolk started to show up and churn things up.

Played with bream and bass on a variety of different popper flies. Ended up with one bass and two bream on the fly and lost two bass on the way to the boat. Once I switched over to the Rapala I quickly picked up three little bass. Still haven't found a fly or streamer that's nearly as effective as that little Rapala. Something about it just drives those little Suwannees crazy.

What particular Rapala have you been using?

Original floating Rapala. I've got several colors and all of them have been pretty successful. Different sized Rapalas will yield different fish - the smaller F3/F5 will bring in bream and red bellies. F7 works well for the bass. It's my favorite and most reliable lure to use no matter where I'm fishin' freshwater.
