How do you fish Bottoms Road?

Post by Aucilla »

I am thinkin' of just a half day out early, on my own, in a new spot: Wevan's redfish hole!!

Hey wevans? Will I be able to chum up some bait fish off bottoms road? Any tip on which way to "turn" as I leave the landing? I have never even seen it!!

I do reserve the right to change my mind though, as I got some ideas for leaving the Lighthouse too . . . .

Early this weekend is low tide, not a good time to try and find your way around the Bottoms area :o I have seen many a newbie setting high and dry out there :-D I would volunteer to show you around, but my girl has Takwondo testing tomorrow for her Yellow belt :smt055

Thanks "wevans," and good luck to your girl!

Maybe I'll plan Bottoms Rd. for another low tide? :D I'll hit the LH tomorrow, then. And just hope it isn't dried up at low tide.....

Enjoy!

After hearing from Wevans so many times my buddies and I have made a few runs to the Bottoms area and its been real productive. Its very different than St. Marks and Spring Creek: instead of fishing the edges of oyster bars we have been learning to work the cuts and dropoffs along the sand bars. And a quick run out to marker 2 can yield all kinds of fish. We are so lucky to have Apalachee Bay with its expanse, diversity and natural qualities.
