Fished from Lower Bridge to a little bit above the powerline and back from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Bright and sunny all day long. Variable breeze in the afternoon made handling the canoe solo while trying to catch fish a pain. Couldn't hold a good position. The fishing was significantly better while the tide was low enough in the bay to expose the river banks. Wound up the day with a limit of bass and one 5" stumpknocker that hit a 6" plastic lizard. Used soft plastics, rigged texposed, with no weight on spinning tackle. The bass were hitting everything I threw, worms, lizards and crawdads. Color and size didn't seem to matter. Used a flyrod for a little bit, but all the stumpknockers I caught on that were smaller than I wanted to fool with. Caught a bunch of undersized bass. I'm starting to think that a lot of what I thought were bass strikes that I missed the fish, are those little stumpknockers. When I cleaned them, three of the bass had real crawdads in their bellies.

Saw quite a few hawks around the river today. Also the usual 'gator, wading birds, lots of turtles, lots of gar, etc., and saw one manatee come up and blow one time.

Charles, don't tell anyone I told you this, but you might want to throw a spinnerbait in the river.

When the Wakulla is right you can catch a lot of bass. Most are Suwannee bass. Check to see if they have red eyes.

Most of the fish I caught Sunday were on a spinnerbait. They were all small, but there was a lot of boat traffic.

Back when the Wakulla had grass in it, a yellow or black/yellow Snagless Sally w/yellow pork strip worked real well. Another lure that produced real well in that river was a Johnson's Silver Minnow w/pork strip. Either siver/white or gold/yellow.

Come to think of it, I bet a yellow Snagless Sally would work well for redfish.

Think I might need to go lure shopping today or tomorrow.

Also need to remember to pick up some popping bugs and rubber spiders for these fly rods. All I seem to have around are flies left over from trout fishing in Japan.

Just walked out in the front yard and saw the moon beaming down through the hickories. Purdy.
