A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
Ok, I know this is real simple and basic. However, Saturday proved quite frustrating. I had 2 rods to work with. I understand that you want to have a near invisible connection from the rod to the lure. So without using a connector, how or what knot can be used to make the transition from one lure to the next short lived. Also, if I'm tying lures on with knots, can my leader be 15-20 ft so I can just snip it off each time I put a new lure on?
Thanks!
There is a fine line between fishing and sitting in a boat looking like an idiot. My line is a bit thicker.
Tie a long leader to your main line using an albright knot. I normally use a 5-6' leader, but you can go as long as you like. Just reel the leader up onto the reel. Some easy knots to use to tie lures on are the palomar knot, Trilene knot, or the non-slip loop knot.

I agree.
Man my new hero for reel (pardon the pun). The only way I could get away with that is if they were all matching rods and reels, then the wife wouldn't know the difference. I'd just carry em out one at a time
I don't have that many, and I build my own. I really only have 6 inshore combos that I use. Have quite a few from before I started building, but they just collect dust. Need to sell them and use the money to buy rod materials. If you see me list a bunch of tackle on the for sale board soon you'll know why. I've still got you beat though TC if you count all the blanks I have.
