Launched out of Shell Island Fish Camp at 5:30 Wednesday evening with my son and his buddy. We had lines in the water outside of Lighthouse at 6:30. Within 30 minutes we had three keepers (3-4 feet of water), caught on a spinner bait (gold spoon with electric chicken jig), and a top dog jr. Had a few more boils on top water, but no hook ups. Headed back around 7:45; got back at dark.

Launced the next morning (Thurs) out of Shell Island just before sunrise. Fished from the Lighthouse, East, in 3-4 feet of water, trying to get some early trout on top water. Again, received some hits, but only managed a couple shorts. Fished skitterwalk, top dog jr., and papa dog. Headed to Grey Mare, where we picked up two nice trout (21" & 24"), both on the same spinner bait (gold spoon/electric chicken). The 24" weighed in at 4 lbs. Picked up a couple shorts before the bite stopped around 10:30. Went in for some lunch, then came back out to fish the evening with some chartruese DOA's. Picked up (4) more keepers 17"-19," on the DOAs and zara spook top water. Watched the sunset as we were heading in.

Was a great trip with the boys, and managed (9) keepers.....all with recommended baits from this forum (Thanks!). Pics below.

This was a special trip for me. My son, shorter one on the right (in the pictures) with green shorts, broke his neck in an accident in June. We're very fortunate to have him still with us; lucky he's able to walk; and I can't tell you how good it felt to be able to do something as simple as fish with him again.
