Grouper Regs?

I was under the impression that the reduction to 3 fish aggregate was already in effect, but the FWC site says nothing about that. I'm also assuming that the fed water closure does start the 1st? Does anyone know just how tight they're going to be with the borders? I have spots that are right on the edge.
What's the real deal?

The 3 fish agg is in effect for Federal Waters right now. On Nov 1, Fed Waters will be closed until Jan 1. Its up to you how close you want to chance it. Just remember that the fed line starts 9 NAUTICAL miles from the nearest point of land.

The 3 fish in fed means that I should be sure not to venture past the 9 miles if I have more than the three per, even if I caught them in state waters?

Don't you mean closed until Jan 1??

"The following regulations have been implemented under an interim rule effective August 9, 2005 - January 23, 2006.
Aggregate grouper bag limit reduced from 5 to 3 grouper
Red grouper bag limit reduced from 2 to 1 (included in the aggregate bag limit)
Recreational grouper fishing closed November 1 - December 31

Can I act stupid in November when the officer finds 2 x 24" or longer gags in my cooler. I'll just say I had no earthly idea the season had been pre-maturely closed...... Would I be taking a $300 chance? :smt017

When you go fishing, hunting, etc....it's your responsibility to make sure you know the current laws!

So now I'm confused.... I thought I could have two Gags in the icebox and be legal. If one was a red, I could have three and still be legal?

I figure that FWGC officer would take one look at my boat and think.....hmmmmm "Boy I must have a real dumb arse here" :smt005 :smt005 :smt005
