Greetings,
I have replaced the plug on the trailer wires. ( that bad dog chewed thru).
Hooked up the boat,, all lights work-------then fuse blows and no running lights. Brake lites and turn lites work. Replace the fuse--- all works for a short time then -------no running lites !
Do I need to re-run all new wire ? No breaks noted, all tight and taped ?

Definately sounds like a short somewhere. If you can't track it down, it might be easier to replace the wiring, but I would study it all real good first. Might find another bare spot somewhere. Good Luck.

Is the wiring going to the back inside the trailer? If so, road vibration will wear the insulation off the wire, which can cause a short. I had this happen on the Lancer...Use the old wire to fish the new wire...Cheap extension cables make good replacement wire.

Or, you can buy a new trailer harness from NAPA for about $10.

You may have replaced the fuse with one that is weaker, i.e. lower amps. Check that first. If that's not it, check your ground wire and make sure it has good contact.
