Skegs, can they be repaired?

My skeg took some nasty hits the other day, busted a chunk off, new motor too! Can this be repaired?

Any good welding shop should be able to fix it without problem.

There is a skeg repalcement available on the market. West Marine has them. It slips over what ever you have remaining and bolts together. Loosk good to.

I can vouch for the "Skeg Guard" because we have one on the Grady. Took off a couple inches in the keys a few years back and used the stainless skeg guard to repair it. works great!

GS, sure you just didn't forget to trim the motor up before pulling out of the loading ramp.LOL

Porter Marine in Woodville does excellent work repairing skegs and at a very reasonable price. He also custom fabricates stainless skeg protectors.He can be reached at 421-1490 or stop by 9355 Elgin road,Woodville. :idea:

Thanks for the info, it makes me sick to see that skeg broke even though its only a small break, most of the skeg is still there.
