Bandit Catches Bait Thieves-

Camped down at Newport Friday night with my son. Was planning on getting down to the water after breakfast at Savannas. My son decided he didn’t feel like fishing so we called my wife , and she made a quick run to pick him up at the campground. Kind of made me sad... Put the boat in at the lighthouse and spent the day on the water. I met the nicest couple on the water. I told them about the forum and invited them to join the fun. They were catching and keeping those “spotâ€

It was me. Next time I'm there c'mon over and drop your anchor and fishing a line and share some of your fishing secrets.... we'll have a quid-pro-quo and maybe pick off a few sheepies... sound good?

Sounds good MJ....I don't know how many secrets I've got to share...seems like I've learned most everything from this ole' board.

I do know this little trick that'll gurrantee you'll catch more fish: just pull that little plug out of the transom once you anchor up...it'll put your boat right there in with the fish, no problem!

My son and I saw you out there Saturday a week ago. We were checking the oyster bars for reds. L.B. caught his first ever that afternoon.

Sheepies rank right up there with Grouper and Black Sea bass as far as quality good eating fish. It is the Seepies diet that consists primarily of shellfish that give them great tasting fillets. As I was cleaning the sheepies, their bellies were full of crushed barnacles. The large Black sea bass had ingested a good sized crab. (Tthe crab's legs had black spots, strange looking indeed) I love to cook those fish as much as catch'em.
