Well I cant call my Kayak (Drifter) Wet But anymor bought some rubber stoppers from Home Depo about $4.00. Now about the only time its gets water in is when I fall off and hve to get back in. Actually it does get a little over the side when I sort of fall into th boat, some when I climb out.

Went to St Marls (the fort) anchored about 25 yards from the point.(down river) caught two reds non keepers anf had two break offs near the boat. Hey I was using 20 year old mono leader I should have known better. Hey I want to fish not shop.

I also got a wally world water proof pants and hooded jacket set only thing that gets wet now is my feet but will be getting water proff boats that look like hiking boots soon. It was chilly that Sunday but I soon had to discard the top and actually was warm in just a long sleave shirt.

Due to aggreement with better half :smt014 I cant go again until Dec. So the first decent weekend in December I will be there with new leader etc.

Hey friend,

I have an Ocean Kayak Drifter also, what a super-stable fishing ride.

I put Lowe's rubber stoppers in my scuppers too and it's a perfectly dry ride now, except for a little paddle drip from time to time.

I mostly fish freshwater though, I do love floating rivers.

Let's fish...

Thanks

Hi,

The name is Mike. I like the Drifter but being a little top heavy....OK a lot top heavy dont think I will stand up in it. Its hard enough for me to get in and out. :( .

Previously and many many years ago I had a kit built folbot, which I gave to my boisses son when we moved toTallahassee., Got another one built it , even sailed it but sold it when time became a bigger factor. Now 35 years later I bought the Drifter originally thought the Castaway was "the" boat for me but after much research and measuring my rear I decided on the drifter. prettier Yaks out there ? definatly but this one has its own beauty.

Anyway been tho the flats 3 times, Lake Talquin once, and down the St. Marks from the fort before I finally caught some fish.

I love slow moving black water (not brown and muddy) rivers maybe with lily pads every so often. I live in Quincy Fl and would be happy to meet you with some notice and steal your secret spots.

In order to get the Drifter I had to make a promise (which I dont plan to keep, that I would only go once per month.
