St. Marks, 11/23/05

Late start, in the water about 1030 at the fort. Coolish. Went up the Wakulla about .25 miles and caught a small red on the falling. Very slow, water temp 63, winds shifting from NW to W to WSW.
Headed down the river about 1300 to a creek on the W side of the river around bouy 56. Don't know the name of the creek right off. It branches off both N and S very close to the river. We anchored at the confluence of the N and S creeks and the rodeo was on. I did not get to fish. My 19 yo son, 16 and 12 yo daughter commenced to put on a redfish clinic. 40+ reds in less than 45 minutes and then it stopped. It was 1345 to 1430, which I believe was the period right after low.
All were 14.5" to 16'5". Kids were sorry that they were too short to keep. I was just happy to look at each one. They were more silver colored that anything gold or bronze. Spots were spectacular. One kid caught a 24.5" trout in the middle of it all. Only trout of the day. Depth was about 5.5', 59 degrees, winds from S, and white redfish magic spoon and live shrimp on the bottom under a jighead or under a CT were the key. 16 yo caught at least 20 reds under the CT with a shrimp. Some folks came in a 'something bass" boat and anchored 30 feet away to the E and were catching nothing but keeper trout. Amazing. Happy to catch, happy to watch the kids, double hookups at times.
