Battery Charger

I'm in the market for either an onboard 3 bank charger or an external...Leaning towards an external for the other boat, lawnmower or anything else that might need charging....What kind do you suggest...Thanks Chalk

I just bought the Shumaker digital from I think Autozone. It was in their sale catalog for around $75. It has a tester and about 4 different levels of charge, including a fast charge feature.

I second the Shumacker. I like the digital readouts and the ability to adjust it.

Dual pro, Three bank pro, in cabelas or bass pro. These are great chargers in and out of the boat, fully automatic. Ive had the two bank stainless for 10 years

Old Dog, Do you write ads for a living or did you copy that off the box it came in
? I'm usually in such a hurry when I buy one I just get whatever autozone has on the shelf and it last until I run over it with a truck.

AJ, that was a copy, but I could give testimonials for them if need be. The only negative about the MK charger, (on-board maintainer), is that it will not recharge your batteries if they are flat out dicharged. You have to bring 'em up a bit with a regular charger then the OBC will finish the job.
I couldn't understand why that was so and called MK technical support and this woman answered and she couldn't give me a reason either. They ought to change the name from technical support to the "We Might Know, and We Might Not," hotline.

Sears Battery Charger

Thanks Wevans for the link to the Sears Charger. Used it and it was delivered yesterday. Even better it was on sale for 39.00

I've used Minn Kota charger with options for deep cycle and other
type batteries for years without any problems.
Just installed onboard Guest Model 2611A w/2 banks (5,5 amps) with new
24v electric and so far am very pleased. Easy plug in rather than
having to climb and reach under deck to attach charger and seems
very quick and is supposed to be better than trickle chargers.
Time will tell but so far I'm happy!

It works great- the weird thing is how fast it charges a battery.
Nearly freaky- I keep thinking, It cant be at 100 % but it is.
Had mine for about a year.
I like that i can use it on the car/ lawnmower /dad's boat- where ever.
I dont get the in boat charger.....

I have a 10' boat with a Dual pro, Three bank pro 15 amps on each bank and the 2 trolling battery are 17 ft from the charger and it
works great ..
