This has been quite an adventurous day.

Today's plan was for Chalk and I to go fish "The Secret Hole". Chalk wouldn't tell me where this hole is, nor would he let me turn my GPS on. He also made me wear a blind fold from the landing to the hole, and back on the return trip. All of this would have been fine, but we were in my boat, and I was driving. I decided that if he didn't want me to know where this place is that bad, and was willing to ride with me, what the heck, lets go.

When we arrived at the hole, I was allowed to remove my blind fold, and, much to my surprise, I had navigated through what looked like a moon scape. The tide was low to say the least. We started fishing this moon scape, and working our way into a creek. It wasn't long before the first fish was boated. A nice keeper trout. We kept moving around and would catch 2 or 3 fish per spot. We boated 10 keeper trout in the first hour. We fished our way up the creek on the rising tide, and stayed up there through the high. When the water turned, we headed back out the creek. We finally found a few reds at the mouth of the creek.

We had a fairly decent day. We caught something over 30 trout, all keepers, most in the 18" range, with a couple hitting 20". I boated 1 24" red. Chalk had another decent red on, but did a quick release before he got the fish to the boat, and we caught 5 or 6 pup reds.

Chalk, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip today. I just wish I knew where we went so I could give a complete report.

Sounds like my secret hole ! Saturday was almost to nice wasn't it. Sounds like our trip. I can't even say how many keeper trout we caught. One 25" red also and plenty of small stock for later. The bite is unreal. We were using and the fish just love em ! frank

What a shower and  can do to rejuvenate you.....

The "Secret Hole" was originally found by myself and Tom Keels in the retired "Chalkmobile" two years ago.....It's been kept between myself and Keels for two years until today....It's location is in good hands and the new member of the club knows that if the location is revealed he will be flogged with a cajun thunder and feed to the pinfish...

I think my partners internal clock is off a little, we had a one man limit in about five minutes once we found them....there were several three casts and three trout....Lures were Cajun Thunders and straight jigs

Big T....I told TC several times did you see that big arse rock we just floated over and he would say no....Well he finally saw the ones on the east bank near the mouth...you know the ones...He said, "How did we float over that awhile ago." :smt036

I wouldn't be under the impression tho that ,"The SecretHole" is so secret. This time of year I doubt seriously theres an inch of creek that hasn't beenfished at Econfina. :-D

I assume the catch and release tradition was carried out? I would hate to see any of our pet fish go home in the cooler.

Nice going guys. Now when is it my turn??

Tom, the only fish that went in the cooler was the red. My wife asked that I keep a red to give to her boss. She needs the points. :-D

I'm willing to go later this week if you can take a day off, and allow me to run the boat without the blind fold.

We may need to borrow the red cross boat because I don't think the cypress sled will ever see water again.
