Why the blunt tip?

Just looking at Columbia River catalogue here and noticed all the dive knives have a blunt tip.

So you won't puncture your BC, wetsuit or yourself. Not all are blunt though. I carry this one so I can dispatch fish.

The blunt tip knives are used for prying also , saves your point, but i don't use one myself !

Cool. Sounds like a personal preference thing. Just the catalogue I had showed all the dive knives with blunt tips. Makes sense. Thanks.

Tom,
My son just certified and is slowly putting together all the diving stuff, you guys need a lot of stuff . He now has a BC, octopus(?) fins, mask, and gagues. His birthday is coming up and he has mention a knife. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Vance

A knife is a must, his instructor will tell him that, i'd go with titanium for little maintenance or just a good ss will be fine, just make sure you clean it every time in the ocean. Don't buy the cheap ones off ebay, they will rust before you get to the ocean. You should be able to spent $40 -60 dollars and get a knife that will be just fine.

I agree with Frank. If I were him I would cary 2. One like this for dispatching fish, cutting rope, or god forbid fighting something off...

Wenoka Squeeze Lock

I would also carry this for line entanglements...
