A change in my schedule Fri. cleared the way for an hastily thrown together fishing trip. Launched from the Fort by 11:10 and headed down river. I decide to fish the low tide in the East River. Took a while but finally find 3 nice reds sunning on a shallow mud flat. Luckily I was able to convince 1 of them to bite a spinnerbait before they spooked.

Just as the tide began to turn, I headed back down the river to fish points west. Didn't do much until just as the high tide was waning. Spooked a large school of puppy reds on 1 end of a long oyster bar, but landed several nice reds and 3 nice trout on the opposite end of the same bar using spinnerbaits and jigs.

Total for the day:
7 reds to 27"
3 trout to 22"

The gulf was slick as a mirror back to the fort. Beautiful! Can't wait til next time.

Good report mr birddog. Sometimes the spur of th moment trips turn out better than the one's with days of planning.
