Neighbor Freddy and I fished the river yesterday PM for a few hours. It was a little windy but not that bad. 'Chunked spoons and jig/grubs and tried cutbait (didn't have any shrimp)on the bottom to no avail.. Didn't even get a nibble. Crossed paths with about 4 other parties. No one would own up to catching anything either..

Used to have some great times in that river. Hung a big red under the old bridge that is still talked about. He got off.
At least you went yesterday.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad you were able to take a break from the chores.
My wife and I were over in Carrabelle last Friday. Went over to Timber Island. I haven't fished the area that much and never up the river but it sure is pretty over there. I'm gonna drive over one of these days with my boat and check it out.
I spotted what looked to be a free a landing over at Timber Island and I'm glad I did. Did they shut off a free landing on the other side of the river (the same street that the old Georgian motel is on)? I was amazed at how uptown that place is getting.

Thanks for the comments y'all.
Yeah, Jim that's a pretty popular ramp on Timber Island. And, yes it is a public ramp. I believe it is Franklin County property, if I remember correctly. It's not unusual to see vehicles and trailers parked all the way to the bridge when the weather and fishing is good.
The City public ramp is the one to the left between the condos and C-Quarters on 98. It's a pretty good ramp, but needs a dock for party boarding and the parking is very limited. You will see a sign saying for commercial fisherman only to the right of the ramp. That is not very clear and only means two parking places there are designated for commercial fisherman's vehicles and trailers. At least this was what I was told by the city manager a few months ago. The ramp on the right of that sign belongs to C-Quarters.
