Launched at the Lighthouse about 1:00 and was fishing in my secret creek to the east about 30 minutes later. Fished the creek hard and managed two redfish, one 22" and the other 26". Like a crack addict finishing off a $10 rock, my cravings only got worse. So I went exploring.
Hit a couple more creeks with no success and then finally located a school of nice reds in my new secret creek. Caught five of them in the 25" range before the school spooked and scattered. By this time the water was practically flat calm and the fish were in very shallow water. You could see massive wakes as the fish moved about and if you could get a jig in front of one of them, it was practially an instant hookup. That's about as cool as it gets in my book.
I also managed a couple of trout in this creek. One was barely legal so I didn't fool with him. The other was a nice 21" fish that I brought home. Final tally was 6 reds, 2 trout and discovery of a couple of new places to fish.
Once again used the gulp jig on 1/4 ounce jighead. I started out during the last hour or so of the rising tide but didn't catch fish until the tide started falling. Had to go up in the creeks a few bends before I started seeing much fish activity. Water temp was 59. Got impatient and started just lifting fish into the boat (it does take an extra 3 seconds to use the net). Dumb move with 7 lb fish that are in a bad mood. One of my rods snapped. I don't care. I'll get another rod. I'm ready to go again!
