Put in at the fort around 130 for a short afternoon solo trip. Tide was at peak high. Wind was blowing pretty good. Headed to a couple of creeks a short ride away.
Started drifting up the first creek looking for holes. Caught a 19 inch trout in one of the first holes I drifted over just off the point of a split in the creek. Kept drifting a little further and decided to go back to where the first one was caught. Had to motor back up because my trolling motor battery was weak (@#$%&*!). Drifted back over the same hole and picked up a short 13 incher. Fought the trolling motor (@#$%&*!) trying to get back up against the current and the wind but again had to crank up to get back to that spot. The third time I drifted over the hole caught a 16 incher and dropped anchor.
Stayed in that spot for probably a half hour longer with only a few more short bites. By this time the tide was falling but the current was still running hard up this particular creek. Didnt want to get too far up in water too shallow to run the big motor with a weak trolling motor so decided to run out and fish the mouths of a few creeks.
Only one more short trout for the rest of the day. Already had dinner plans so put the two keepers back for another day. Off the water by 530 after a 30 minute wait at the ramp. All an enjoyable short trip with only a couple of minor hang-ups.
So a total of 4 trout. 2 shorts a 16" and 19". All caught on a gold DOA shrimp worked super slow.
