St. Marks river 1/29/06

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

Decided to try river fishing for the fun of it Sunday. Loan Shark his son and I packed our rain gear and took off. Depite what NOAA said it was almost flat calm up in the river from the fort. :-D Wanted some sheepies but wound up getting into those sand trout we had heard about. And man did we get into them. It was like fishing on a bream bed. Fish after fish and watching the otters play. It only rained steady for about an hour. Water temp 63. But we had blast catching for once. The catch 88 sand trout but 0 sheeps. :-D Thanks to Mjsigns for the idea and area. :-D

Good morning H-n-M.

Good report...Most times regardless of the forecast you can find someplace on that river where it's fishable. Good job on the sandies  How far up the river did ya go?
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

:-D We went as far as the manatee area to a spot LS had caught sheepies the week before but no luck. We caught all of our sandies right beside and just past what I think is the power plant. The bottom was just crawling with fish on the depth finder. :-D How big do sandies get?

It's a beautiful river. I've had some really good times there myself.
