Wakulla River 2/1

Threw a canoe in the Wakulla for a couple hours yesterday. Right around Lower Bridge from 3:30 to a little after six. The water was fairly clear, but not great, on a rising tide. The grass and vegetation are making a great come-back. Lots of loose vegetation and algae drifting on the surface. That was mildly aggrevating.

Of course the big one, around 3-4, came unstuck right beside the boat. This was up, just below the Wakulla Queen. Caught one other keeper, released, and several shorts. All on a black/yellow Snagless Sally. Saw lots of mullet and one red. The red was in the shallow grass on the west side of the river below the bridge and took off for the deep hole right there as soon as he saw me.

She's the displacement hull inboard you can see by looking north from Lower Bridge.

Looks like a sailboat with no mast.

Good deal, Charles. The fish in the river should be staging, and will probably bed on the next full moon. Should be good catching the next two weeks. Let us know if it's more than you can handle.
