The truth about Gomer and Goober

Butch and I came through the backdoor of one of our many hotspot creeks in order to sneak up on our fishing hole. As the fog would sporadically dissipate we could see 2 little heads bobbing around near one of our sites. The closer we got we could make out Gomer and Goober casting,casting,casting. Never saw a rod bend. We stopped short of them to assess the situation and promptly put 2 nice reds in the boat.Once we could tell exactly where they were we decided to go past them to our fishing hole.The closer we got we could see why there were no bends in their rods. They were in 6 inches of water casting headless shrimp into 2 inches of water.
Once past them we started casting back in their direction into "the channel" that was about 3 feet beyond their best cast. In an hours time we boated and released 14 trout all in the tournament class category,the biggest 5 weighing over 13 pounds. we also caught and released 3 more reds here as none of them improved what we had in the live well. Shortly after G&G hop out of their boat and start pushing into deeper water in a adjacent tributary. As they did this a really large redfish spooked and swam straight towards the sawgrass and beached itself. Goober,being the conservationist he is bailed from the boat to retrieve the giant redfish and release it to deeper water. Atleast that's what I thought he was doing until I saw Gomer open the ice chest and Goober released the redfish into it. That would be the same redfish that made the scale at the weighin.
BTW if Gomer or Goober owes anyone any money now is the time to collect. They are both packing a wad from their tournament winnings.

Tank of gas in Chalk's truck = $50.00
Chalk's Tournament fees and boat gas = $20.00
Total =$70.00
Balance of winnings after split and
paying for gas and tournament fees =$0.00

Tournament Director stating that Chalk and Tincan are packing a wad... :o :smt005 :smt005

Priceless :smt043

I'm sure the red had injured itself to the point of no return and G&G didn't want the fish's sacrifice to be wasted. :-D
