Hi Y'All. Brand new at this kayak stuff. My Lady and I have 2 yellow F&Ds in the garage gettin rigged for the season. We haven't even gotten em wet yet. Tripped over this board and see that you are the process of forming a club, and since you appear to be gentle with other newbies I thought I would say Hey. Questions: 1. Any other ladies or couples out there into this? 2. Any retired or soon-to-bes like me that have a weekday or two for fishing? 3. Anyone commute to the BigBlue from GA like us (Valdosta)? Anyway its been years since I fished a Whaler out of MA and would appreciate any advice on how best to go about this adventure. Thanks and Stay Dry.

Start simple. Get used to what your doing before you go crazy putting on depthfinders, gps, rod holders, milk crates, stakeout poles, lights. Whoa, that's my yak.

Welcome aboard, Several of us will be meeting on the Wakulla River this Sunday for some fresh water fishing, come on down. Several of us do fish saltwater, and are planning several trips this year. I have a fish n dive myself, hope to see you soon.

Billy...while Im looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can, this Sunday feels a few weeks premature. We are going to take the 'start simple' advice from jsuber and find our sea-tushies first by flailing around at midnite in some secluded 1 ft deep bathtub before causing anyone else to lose fish as the result of hysterical laughter. Hope this doesnt cheat anyone out of good photos, and hope I can have a rain(sun)-check. Thanks again...and save some for me.

Hey Geezer,
Welcome to the dark side from another recently retired geezer. My wife doesn't fish (yet), but she does like kayaking for river cruising, bird-watching and the like. This is a good site to monitor for "local" trip and fishing info from other like-minded folks. Another great site for state, national, and international info on kayaking that some of us are active on is KayakFishingStuff.com:
http://kfs.infopop.cc/6/ubb.x?a=cfrm&s=418607442
KFS is a great all-around kayaking site, especially for figuring out how to rig your yak, and to find info on all the kayak brands and accessories out there. They even have a kayak sailing forum!
And don't worry about being too "new" to the game--we are all learning as we go! And believe me--any "mistakes" or "goof-ups" that you may or may not make, most of us have already been there, done that!
Best,
Dick

Yep, and it is a pleasure to welcome Litt to the first class of our new training program, BIBGIT. At present, Litt is “lost, but making good timeâ€

Littoral: sounds like I need to bring MY camera

Apalach: thanks for the encouragement! Maybe my Thweetie can help ease your Thweetie into fishing (or maybe it will work the other way?)?.

Weather lookin' good for tomorrow the 19th. Looking forward to meeting as many Geezers and geezer wannabes at TnT as possible. Mebbe some of us salty types can even be introduced to the arcane rituals and mysteries of bass fishin' and catchin'. Doubt if any of the reds are still in the hole, or around the bridge, but who knows? We shall see...
Hey q--if you can round up a canoe or yak, come on over. Or just come on anyway, and park yerself at the picnic table and be "entertained". As someone almost close to geezer status yourself, you are entitled to shoot rude comments from the beach to the gathered multitudes.
