I was on the water at daylight. Headed to a shallow grass flat in Spring Creek that produced last spring. No grass.
Water temp was 58.
Headed down the creek. No grass. Headed further down the creek to a flat between Spring Creek and The Flint. Some grass, but not like it should be. Water temp was 59. Fished for a while. Nothing.
Ran up Fish Pond Drain. Plenty of grass. Also plenty of algae. No fish.
Ran to the ski pond in the management area. Lots of pepper grass. Water was 63 degrees. Caught a goodun, bout 7 pounds.
Ran up the Hooch to an area behind the spoil island that usually produces. No grass, muddy, and 59 degrees. Went bak to the flat between Spring Creek and The Flint. Water had warmed to 62 degrees. 4 fish between 2 and 3 pounds in an hour.
Back on the trailer at 3.
It would have been a good day but when I was idleing out of the ski pond I idled over a piece of standing timber. Immediately my bottom machine started acting up. I knew exactly what it was. When the boat dropped off of the tree the transducer hit the tree. Broke the mount. No problem, I have a spare mount. 10 minute fix when I get home. However, while running down the Hooch, my locator popped up a message that said "The Transducer has been disconnected".
Found exactly what I expected when I loaded the boat. Those bare wires, and no transducer, don't look too good.
Guess I'll have to pull out the spare locator and install it this week.
Oh, since Chalk posted his mileage, I'll post mine. 49 miles on the GPS.
