Impromptu trip today. On the water at 12:00. Found a school of fish that refused to leave a big pothole. Caught six before they wised up. Moved to fish some mud and found quite a few singles and doubles. These fish were spooky; hooked three, landed two. NOAA promised afternoon winds out of the NNE at 5-10 so I wasn't surprised when it started to blow 15 out of the SW :x . Blew me off this flat to another. Found a few more fish along with a group of big trout sunning on top of a bar. Got one at 4.5 lbs. Boat on trailer at 3:30. Fix satisfied, I'm ready to get back to the office.

"Flat" out, somebody around here knows how to fish.
I'm gettin a fair bit better casting and with practicing in the wind every few days its coming. I'm still not sure I would have made much of a presentation with that wind. I don't grovel like this often but Lanark is my prime stompin grounds & someday I'd really appreciate a trip with you.

I'd appreciate some details on your gear. What weight rod throws that fly -it sure looks heavy with those "eyes". I looks like a fly they'd have to hit. What fly is it and, given I'm not ready to tie my own, where can I get some?
I'm sure I'll be in the yard later today trying to throw more weird-assorted weighted & air resistant stuff.

I believe that is a Kwan fly (sp?)....kinda like a Merkin crab....I like the color..how about a dry shot of your fly Nole :o  ...I might twist a few up that color, so I can admire them in my fly box
