Good day on the water for myself, one of my employees, and a client from Central FL.
We caught a mess of fish, but had a tough time finding quality fish. Started out on a dead low tide with no wind at all on the West flats near Patty's Island. Despite the lack of tide and wind, we picked up a couple trout before heading East.
Ran East to the area between Grey Mare and Cobbs Rock and began steadily catching fish as the tide began to flow. Caught 30 - 40 trout, but only 5 keepers, the largest being just over 21 inches.
Also

had four, yes four cobia circle our boat, but we couldn't get them to take anything we chucked at them. THERRRRRRRE HEEEEEEEERE

Two of the cobes were well into the keeper range, two below.
LOTS of boats out today for a Friday. Our little piece of paradise has been discovered.
Good Fishin

I was in the Grey Mare area this afternoon too.. We caught quite a few shorts and seven keepers..One was 19", rest barely keepers....Bout 2:30 wind got up and we came out....Rough ride back to St Marks..
Yesterday spent most of morning trolling and we hung a huge cobia in bout 25 ft of water. They're definitely here.. Kept him on for probably five minutes and then he threw the stretch..Hated losing that fish ! Looked like he was well over four ft..Did catch one 30" gag ..

boxed 4 trout - biggest 21
also boxed a nice spanish 21 to fork
released about 20 in the 14-15 range
it really picked up after 3 and we left them biting at 4
i spoke with capt chuck who fished until 6:30 and he said all hell broke lose on the outgoing around 5:30
i would think fishing from 4-7 pm today would be awesome

Sundown -
The name of my boat is Answered Prayers. I am the one you were talking to on the radio along with Sir Reel.
I was wondering if you were able to troll anything up. I had my trolling rods and Stretch's with me, but the wind picked up so much that I didn't head out to try my luck.

Steve...
OK, I remember you came by us bout that time...My buddy who's about as old as I am and can't see any better was wondering what the name on that boat was...We thought it was Awesome Pirate or something till you got right up by us ! We had a good laugh over that one !
We started trolling about 9 yesterday morning ( Friday ) and kept at it till about one....Not a single strike. Bottom at 25 ft was clear as could be..could see bare bottom everywhere..No fish on fishfinder to speak of..I'm wondering what's happened to the bottom. We fished rocks and numbers that produced grouper last fall and nothing is there now..Wondering if the red tide wiped out all the live bottom ??
The one nice gag we caught (Thu) was at the best location we had last fall...Caught him on a Stretch 30/24. First time I'd used one of them. Trolled back across the rocks several more times and nothing....
Cobia we hooked (Thu) was in open water..We were trolling between two rock piles when it hit....
Incidently, I marked some nice structure I didn't know about if the fish ever do come back !!!
