Got to the ramp late but, managed to slide out. Fished mostly East. Ran to a spot where we have been catching a few larger trout and caught 2 around 18 right off the bat. Then a ton of short fish. Decided to move in to the creeks and grass and fish for some reds. Hooked up 4 fish all over 20. It was an excellent day. Finally got tired of fighting the wind and left around 3. The ramp was surprisingly crowded for a Friday. Fished with 6 and 8 wt. rods used an intermediate sinking line for trout with an orange and white fly. Used floating line and a gold and red fly for the reds. Found most of the trout in 6 to 4 ft , reds were in the grass. It was a perfect day except for the botched NOAA forecast.
On a grumpier note

, It is illegal to catch a limit of fish and run back and dump them in the cooler at the truck and run back out and catch another limit. Rules and regs are set for a reason. Its also important to understand that we need to be up on plane to get out of certain channels during low tides. No need to get upset

when you get passed idling out a main river channel. Maybe those of us on this forum can spread the word. Fishing and boating are supposed to be fun and relaxing.

VERY TRUE! I often get some funny looks and worse on Econfina when
I pass folks on plane and they are idling (for whatever reason).
During the winter when people are fishing up the river I always slow to an idle to pass unless someone waves me by. Rest of the year,
I feel its someone not used to "local rules of the road."
Bottom line...if you can stay on plane...GOFERIT!

I will be fishing every week. Had a great day the other day by myself in the same are we found large reds last time. Trolling motors were fine but, the one of the 3 batteries was a dud and shorted the system. luckily I did not have to replace the banks. Let me know when you are coming back down. I am busy this weekend, and next weekend I am thinking of heading south to try and catch some snook.

Don't work so hard.

Thanks for the report.
A cheap multi meter on board could have save the day with that weak/dead? bat. Just an idea..
