Towed the canoe to Live Oak Island behind a bike. On the way down I realized I had forgotten my cigarette lighter, no big deal, I always have a spare and an extra pack of smokes in the dry-box. Later in the ride I realized I had forgotten to pack a landing net. What else did I forget?

Launched at 9:30 on a rising tide. By 10 I had the first trout in the cooler on a speckled trout colored Rapala Skitter Walk. By 11 I was putting the fifth trout in the cooler on a 52M26 MirrOlure. Caught 2 on the Skitter Walk and 3 on the MirrOlure. First five fish hooked, all in the slot, all females, all in the cooler, no inadverent releases, without a net.

Normally I'll leave a spot open in the limit just in case I catch a bigger one, not today. At 11:00 I decided to go see if I could find a red. No dice, but I did hook up with another trout, this one with shoulders. Which I promply broke off at boatside trying to land without a net, and this one kept my trout colored Skitter Walk.

Saw a bunch of glass minnows around. If the Spanish aren't here yet, they're UA, write 'em up. Saw a pack of marauding Jack Cravelle, about 10 lbs. apiece.

Too bad about the reds Charles, but you stacked up on the trout .

Spanish are here so beware. I had the pleasure of having a nice one spit my bait back at me yesterday, right in front of the lighthouse. I also saw a large pack of large Jacks, and one of those was nice enough to pick up my jig and bring it almost all the way to the boat for me before depositing it back into the water.

That's amazing. I have a $30000 rig and you go with a $250 rig and tear em up. We did well on the east flats Monday.. 14 out of 15 keepers were egg loaded femails...but I drove close to 200 miles to do it.

That one trip cost a Rapala Skitter Walk and a small bag of ice.
I figure the snacks, drinks and smokes don't count because I would have consumed them, anyway, even if I didn't go.

If I were that fast on that bike with a canoe behind it I'd be stepping into Lance Armstrong's shoes.

I figure with the trout being that numerous and aggressive, if I can catch 'em like that, anybody can.
