I have the foot from a 70's model 28 Mariner which died. The unit is in perfect condition aside from a few minor scratches on the skeg. Comes with a painted steel prop (not attached). I also have the starter from it which also works fine. Call me and we can work out a price.

For all you small outboard owners, a 70's mariner, 40 HP and less, is a Yamaha.
I might be interested. What length shaft is it?

sorry about that Tin, I haven't been online in a while...
I'm not entirely sure on how to measure it, the shaft jutting up from the mounting plate on the top of the foot (the exposed section) is 17.75" and the shaft from tip to where I would PRESUME the gearing is is approx. 30". So, going by common sizes, I would assume a 28" shaft...but you're welcome to come see for yourself. Lower units are one part of a vessel I know nothing about...except keep 'em oiled and keep 'em off of stumps

That would be what is referred to as a 20" shaft. If the motor were assembled, the measurement from the cavitation plate to the horrizontal part of the mount bracket (the part that sits on top of the transom) would be roughly 20".
I'll give you a call.

Believe it or not, my wife said no more boats.
Besides, I bought a project boat once. Never again.
