Fishing West today

Two of North Florida's finest trout fishermen went west today. We started at Big Pass(1 catfish),came out of there, then drifted to Little Pass,(0). Went south to deeper water,(0). Went in towards Pattys' Island,(1 ladyfish),(1 short). Got close to Pattys' Island(16" keeper),(1 short),(1 19" keeper) missed a 5 pounder. Made another drift,(0). Went towards East Goose Creek bars (2 short reds). Fished and fished and fished and fished. Five more shorts. That's it.
Wind 15 to 25 all day. Drift sock out still doing 2mph on the GPS.

Wevans, he's just plumb crazy.
That birddog curse don't easily wash off.
JT, you're hardcore to fish in these kinds of conditions.

Funny you should mention the BIRDDOG curse. I thought about it all day. Fishing in a gale and only 2 keepers.
Sound familiar?

Yeah, I bet you wish you went where I went today now. A stringer like that could have brought you some money.

It was a quite poor performance with everyone involved. I think the first place winner had a redfish a trout and a catfish. Just those three fish earned that group of anglers $750. We came in third with a stingray, catfish, and a trout. Could have easily taken first if we would have had any idea that one redfish would have put us there. Instead we wasted most of our time trying to find a ladyfish, pinfish, and a shark, to give us the "Trashcan Slam" and a 50 point bonus. This is the first year that nobody had the slam, so we figured it would be necessary to have a decent chance of winning. Oh well, there's always next year, so I guess I will have to hone my trash fish catching skills between now and then.
Oh, did I mention that the wind blew
