Mamas--don't let your babies grow up to be weather forecasters: Kayak- and Wade-fishing 30 April
Let me preface this report by saying that although many may sign up, few actually show up. Four of us showed up at Savannahs right on time at 0730: Billy, Charles, his son Yuta, and myself As is my wont, I usually don't pay much attention to weather forecasts. I find that sticking my head out the back door at 0-dark-30 on the day of the trip works much better. Since I had spent several hours on Saturday re-doing the wiring on my trailer, I figured what-the-heck, may as well load this baby up and get ready to haul yak to W.B. on Sunday. Turns out I was the only one with a boat! Because of all the negative NOAA weather reports for Sunday, everyone else bailed on the boats. Billy came down for breakfast and to talk up some future trips, but left his boat at home. Charles and his son didn't bring their canoe, but were rigged for mud-slogging and wade-fishing on the West Goose oyster reefs. Actually I have found Ray Hawthorne, the WCTV Channel 6 morning meteorologist, to be a lot more accurate than the “officialâ€
