I've been using a clinch knot, but some say to use a loop knot for more freedom of movement. ?

I use an improved clinch or palmar for surface plugs.
For twitch baitsi.e.Rapala, redfin, rebel, etc I'll use a loop knot or sometimes a wire snap without the swivel if I'm changing lures often.

I like the wire snap idea.. I hate to retie...

If you are catching fish you still need to retie often.

I use the improved clinch knot. When I have a lot of time I'll use the loop knot for topwater plugs. My beat up stubby fangers make it a time consuming process to tie it though, so usually wind up using the Improved clinh for everything.

I use a palimar or improved cinch for everything. I usually put a small split ring on topwater plugs that don't come with one. That eliminates the need for the slip knot. I'm with OD bout the broke up stubby fingers. Plus, I'm old and can't see. I can tie the improved cinch in the dark.

Improved Clinch for me. I tie everything with it.

TC, good idea about the split ring on topwater. I'll try it.

I use the Palomar for worm hooks and I like to snell hooks if they have a turned down eye. Either a No-Slip loop knot or a Uni-Knot otherwise..........unless something gets me flustered, then I fall back to the improved clinch which I learned to tie about 35 years ago and can do without thinking. :D

Like the improved clinch here also, but use the palomar when using braid lines. The palomar is probably the easiest to learn. It is the one I teach to everyone I fish with who doesn't know how to tie a hook or lure on.
