Me and Mako put the boat in at the ramp at 6:50am. Water was slick as glass, and lot's of topwater activity in the river. Fished both east and west of the mouth of the river. Mako caught most of the fish. I hooked the only keeper of the day and lost him boatside. The fish were active up till 11:00am when the winds kicked in to 15-20. Water temp never got over 75.2, and never saw the sun for more than 20 minutes at a streatch. Gave up at 12:30 home by 1:30. Totals for the day
10-15- Short Trout
6-8 Flatheads
1- blue runner
1 - fat blowfish with spurrs
1- lost controversial push pole
(next push pole will have my name & email address inscribed in it, and I'll paint it florescent red like a CT.)
Think I lost it right near the mouth of the River on the rising tide. The chop was so bad, I couldn't spot the PVC push pole.
It was a fun day with good comapany.

Going around the Island headed south. What a way to start the day...
GPS recorded 30.6 miles. Westward tracks show I was within 40' of Cobb Rocks (that's a real nasty area for rocks) and ran all the way over toward Grey Mare. When we gave up on the western side we headed to the eastern side of the river mouth. Inshore and out to about 1.25 miles, there is some nasty looking tall skinny grass that is growing all over the area. Not being an expert I couldn't tell if the grass was "native" or some evasive foreign grass. you couldn't fish with a CT or Top-water. I was concerned that the grass would plug my water intakes so we ran back out into clearer waters and headed back in. Thank goodness for the gusty SSW winds. They pushed allot of water up into the river for our return on the falling tide. Discovered it's time for a new plugs.
Made the trip to Lowe's today to get the materials for a replacement push pole, but didn't have time to construct it.
Even though we had a rough day, and lost a push pole, I am glad God is giving me these awesome experiences. I will never forget the beautiful surises I have experienced. Each day is a blessing and I am thankful for the things God has made and done for me.

I've come to really enjoy that area. It seems I do allot more catchin' when I'm alone. That water was so smooth in the morning, it was hard to tell where heaven ended and the water began. One of them pictures was taken at 20 mph according to my GPS. One day me and those fish will have a "reckoning". Till then, I'll just keep going after them...
