Recommendations on Chart Plotter/Bottom Machine

I'm redoing an old 24 proline classic and I am trying to decide on the Chart Plotter/Bottom Machine. I think I would like one of those big screens that can be splt between GPS tracking and bottom machine, but my mind is still open. I am getting old and my eyesight for reading is shot, so I need something that is large and bright.
Any suggestions and places to get a good deal?
Thanks!

Mud, take a look at this web site. You'll have a hard time beating their prices. I've purchased several items from them, with no problems.

So a split screen will give you the pic of two smaller units if you have both GPS and bottom machne on. Why not seperate units.

I normally think the same way, however, I was thinking of saving some dash space. I would only use the split screen when trolling or manuvering to anchor. I'm still undecided though. My new console is due here today or tomorrow and that will let me know how much room I have to work with.
Thanks for your suggestion!

i put a lowrance lms 337 on my boat last summer.im very pleased with it put the screen is rather small. especially on split screen. i have limited space or i would have went with seperate units. that way only one will tear up at the time, and you will have full screens to do what you do

I have a Lowrance LCX 111c HD and I love the large screen. I am getting a little older and my vision is not as good as it use to be. I considered two seperate units but sometimes I want to just view gps and having the ability to enlarge that screen from a split screen is nice. You can't enlarge with two seperate units.

I've been looking at the G178C. I've already got the bluechart CD installed on a b/w unit. Is it's 5 inch screen big enough and bright enough for an old man with poor eyesight?

my eyesight is less than perfect and the color screen has enough definition that I can view without my glasses.since you already have the chip you'll be money ahead.
