Entering Waypoints in GPS???

Finally got the right Mapsource for my Garmin 172...Loaded it and downloaded the points I had saved this year in GPS..Was able to edit them and put in category..

Then trouble began.I took my old GPS out to boat and powered it up and with a pad wrote down all the numbers that payed off last fall..

I came in and began to enter them in mapsource from the keyboard so I could download them into the 172...When I entered a number example: 29.xx.xxx it changed it to 30.xx.xxx.. numbers from around Grey Mare changed to a number around Shell Point..Couldn't get Mapsource to accept the numbers as I entered them...

Any Garmin Users got a clue what might be my problem ???
Any advice greatly appreciated !

Mapsource goto Edit - Preferences - Position and change mapsource to match the Lat/Long as your old GPS

Note: This is the easy explanation, it could get more complicated, hopefully not...

hey sundown, send me your old list and let me try into my GPS72 and I'll let you know how they do.

Since I'm an expert on the inner workings of the satelite readers, I might suggest comparing the config settings.. I don't know which one but if nothing works, do what I do and just look up to find where the sats are - then you'll know which direction you want to go :smt006 This only works best in the Aucilla ditch on New Year's Eve Day in a blanket of thick fog! Oh, it has to be on a negative low tide too.

I'll be checking my email for the list...
