Could not get to the water till about 1:30PM. Went to 1st favorite spot and started a drift. Conditions seemed perfect. Fished for a while with no bites. Finally, my girlfriend gets a 18" trout. Just as it has been for me lately, the bite is very slow. I heard on the radio that the bite had been better earlier in the day. I'm starting to worry that she might have the only fish of the day and I will hear about that for weeks. Finally I get a fish in the box almost as big as hers. Not good, I will still have to listen to the "I caught the biggest fish" stuff forever. Then she gets a 23 incher( her personal best). That's gonna be tough to beat. I hang in there and it pays off, a 24" trout (my personal best). We end up with one more 17" trout and a 29" Redfish (another personal best) to finish the day. Off the water about 6PM. A great day on the water. Those quality fish make the slow bite easier to live with. I'll be back soon.

Dang, son, those were some quality fish! Those are worth more than a box full of small fish.WTG on not lett'in the girlfriend show ya up.

all were caught on Gulps under Cajun Thunder. I did try other lures and also with and without CT's. Girlfriend also had what I think was a Cobia hooked although I never say the fish it pulled like a Cobia taking plenty of drag and a turtle appeared during the fight. I hear the Cobia will follow the turtles and stingray around. Is this true ? If so, does anyone know why ?

Its true. Particularly sting rays. The sting ray stirs up the bottom as is swims along and the cobia is following along to gobble up anything that looks tasty.

And finally, pictures of the trout. This is on my 48 quart Ice Chest. if you look closely you can see that the smallest of these three is just over 18".

1. Did you find the fish to the West or East?

2. What depths did you find them?

Welby - I agree with Sir Reel and am not looking for your "hot spots," but am very curious how deep you were when you caught the redfish and what the tide was? I have had great luck out of Econfina catching trout, flounder, bluefish, spanish and even an occassional cobia, but never caught a redfish, especially, if I understood your original post, under a CT.
