Re: Motor RPMs
The engine seems to lose power and all it will do is 3000. However, when not in gear it runs like a top. I know all the fuel lines are ethanol rated and the fuel filter looked clean. Getting fuel was the first thing I thought of we he described the problem. I'll have to check the bulb next time we r...

Re: Motor RPMs
The lower unit is in good shape, no cracks, and a believe the oil was changed a few months ago.
Can a spun hub cause the engine to max out 2500 rpms under what it should be? Seems like that would make it hit higher rpms quicker. I'll tell him to pull the prop and check it out.

Motor RPMs
My buddy has a boat that has a 50 hp Mariner 4 stroke on it. Last week he was out fishing and said it ran great all day until when they got ready to come in, the motor would not go over 3000 rpm and would not get on plane. We put it on a water hose at the house a few days later and it ran fine. Took...

Re: Aucilla navigation
There is an easy safe route out of Aucilla.
Get in truck, drive toward 98, take left and go to St. Marks. Launch boat, follow channel markers to gulf, go outside of stake line and take left. Continue until you see Aucilla River.

Re: Boy Scout scalloping trip? St Joe bay
As a redhead, I know a thing or two about sunburns. Instead of using sunscreen, I suggest getting a rash guard that is used for surfing. They are usually rated at least SPF 50 if not more, and you don't have to worry about reapplying. There are swim shirts as well, but I prefer the rash guard becaus...

Re: Muskie Jitterbug
The muskie jitterbug was the one that had three sets of treble hooks on it. I just found my old one the other day that I used to fish back when I was in middle school. Haven't seen any that big in the stores in quite some time.

Re: How LOW can ya go??
You should be fine at 7:45. If the winds are blowing out it might be a little low, but now they are out of the east so you should be fine. Just make sure that you stay on plane at the river mouth so you dont get stuck in the mud on the way out. Youre gonna get blown around on Sunday if the forecast ...

Re: Fishing from the shore
I have a freshwater boat too. I've found that I have a hard time catching fish when it is at the house because i dont want to put it in the saltwater. I do have to do a bit more maintenance but being able to catch trout and reds is well worth it to me.

Re: Rock guidance
There's three ways to not hit a rock eventually at econfina... wade, kayak, or get an airboat.
Good insurance, a good welder, and a sea tow membership will come in handy if you fish down there enough.

Re: Econfina Buoys
I thought rocks at first, but if they are going to mark all the rocks at Econfina they'd need about 2000 more buoys.

Econfina Buoys
Today at Econfina there were three sets of two large orange buoys in the river. There was one at the no wake zone, one midway, and one out by the tripod. Anyone have any idea what they are for? Each one had a large sticker on it that said caution, but I didnt get close enough to see what else it sai...

Re: New Bimini Top
I got mine from Cabela's. Took a while for shipping but it was cheaper than everywhere else. It's a must have for the wife when we are scalloping.
