Re: Offshore tides
I can tell you that offshore of Steinhatchee, in 25-60ft, that's out to about 30 miles, tides follow the same trend. When it's slack tide, meaning little or no water flowing in 5'; it is about the same offshore in 25-60'. Slack tide is a great time to catch bait fish...... and piss poor for quality ...

Re: July 12th Fishing/Scalloping @ Keaton Beach
Nice report. Dittos on getting there early..... and sometimes too early. I've seen a NE breeze mess up the offshore plans of many early birds......... in Feb & Mar..... Nov, too . Many times slept in till 8, launched around 10, while much larger boats were hauling out. They would report, "W...

Re: pc beach help
Got room for another fisherman? Friend caught 1-3 lb beeliners as fast as they hit the bottom. Yes, plenty of 2-3lb beeliners. Limited out on them quick. Then caught some live bait on another spot, then some 30lb AJ's one the next. They ran out of Mexico Bch. All they could catch inside of 90' was r...

Nice post. Looks like a great day on the water: Nice weather + Good friends + Some smiling young faces = Goes down as makin memories! My memeory says 72ft out of Cedar Key is around 30 miles? I may be off 4-5 miles. Been many years since I made some of those trips. I do remember running out of the N...

Re: First time kayak fishing
Thanks for the posts. Yes, my old busted up back sorta puts "a drag on things". It would be good exercise. Kayaking certainly does have an appeal to it. Crossing/fishing skinny water is always challenging......... and often rewarding. Tearing up props and buying jack plates, combined, gets...

Hagen's Cove, a county park, just south of Keaton Bch. Don't know about scallop count, but from there you can walk/wade for miles.

Re: What these boards are all about!
Thanks for the kayak input. I've had both low back & neck surgery........ I just ain't the fella I used to be. I'm worried I would tip the darn thing over. Also, getting in and out would be a tough. It does sound like a QUIET way to "get away" from the crowd. I do enjoy sitting on a qu...

Heck of a nice "surprise" there! Glad it worked out well for y'all.
Where were you fishing out of? My guess is, pin fish might have been scarce due to"Too much fresh water????"

Re: Looking for a new to me boat.
How many boats have you bought and/or sold? When buying, there are plenty of mistakes that lead you into buying "someone's problems". Plenty of do(s) and don't(s) when checking out and test riding a used boat. Never spend $10,000 without a 45-60 min test ride. Buying $25 worth of gas on a ...

Re: Scalloping next sat????
Steinhatchee friends of ours reported today, TOO MUCH FRESHWATER has messed up salinity. Steinhatchee Falls remains underwater. Been that way since March?? Rained there yesterday and now again today. More rain forecast for this week. Might have to get away from the river and/or deeper water?? Good l...
