Re: St Marks NWR - 12 Apr 2015

Terrier, I was out there early in the morning as well. Got on the water before the sun came up and ran back up the east river. No activity what so ever so I ran to the edge of the flats just South East of the light house. Only there for 8:00 to 9:50. 1 short trout, two big Spanish and lost count on ...

Re: Any info on the flats?

Went out yesterday for a couple of hours. Put in at the light house about 12:30 and ran over to the long bar. Saw reds tailing on the bar. Had one swirl at my Mirro Lure suspended jerk bait but didn't connect. went straight out across the channel markers towards the gulf. Had two bites with one real...

Re: Any info on the flats?

I ran out for a couple of hours yesterday and threw some gulp "swimming mullet" under a popping cork all up the west side of the long bar in front of the light house. Got bit twice (not counting the bugs) but didn't hook up on either strike. Tide was wrong but I just wanted to get out ther...

Great trick for Rip Tide trolling motor owners!

After almost falling out of the boat trying to pull up my foot controlled trolling motor up (the kind that has the swivel point at the base of the mount on the bow of the boat) I came up with an idea that REALLY WORKS GREAT! Clean the shaft with a magic eraser and dawn detergent (this gets all the r...

Re: SAT . MORNIN

Yep. I saw it too! Huge reds in the bay only a mile from the boat ramp. With that reference and the view of the bridge, shouldn't be hard to find. Note to self: Next fall…….ROAD TRIP!

Re: New to Area: St. Marks/panacea

Hi Gatorgriff, Welcome, Jacksonville is my home town as well. I suggest you get a "Top Spot" map for the area. You can buy them at West Marine or Bass Pro. It will so ramp locations and also common fishing areas along with the species thats commonly bought there. I fish the flats for trout...

Going fishing this Monday……..

Im off on Monday and plan on floating the boat. Anybody seeing any trout? Ive struck out at St. Marks the last several trips. If all else fails, a bucket of crickets and a day of bream fishing. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Hope everyone has a great Super Bowl Sunday! Im thinking about making a run to St. Marks tomorrow. Haven't seen any posts lately. Trying to decide whether to fish the river or run out to the light house. Any suggestions? Id be very grateful for any recent news.

Need advise on a pinfish trap.

I had great success trout fishing sometime back using pinfish at the flats at Keaton Beach. The local bait shop there sells them along with live shrimp. I can't find any bait shops in the St. Marks area that sells them. Anybody out there have any advise on a good trap (other forums say smaller traps...

Where did the trout go?

I know patience is a virtue but enough is enough! I made another run from the Fort at St. Marks up the river this morning and never got a bite. Trolling, casting, hard bait, soft bait and even bottom fishing. Anybody out there have any ideas why the fishing in the river is so different from last yea...
