A friend of mine has the 1/2 ton Dodge diesel. He has gotten as much as 29 mpg on a long road trip, not pulling anything, and averages around 24 mpg and he has a heavy foot. His boat weighs 2500# and he tells me he gets 18-20 mpg pulling it.

I have a Dawson address but I'm only 1.5 miles from Lee County and 6 miles west of Albany Mall.

I don't think the 8" will be a noticeable difference in ride or spray. The tabs will help keep the bow up and any potential spray thrown to the rear of the boat behind the driver.

For the money I would go Robalo. Like you said it is a prettier boat and the fit & finish on the Robalo is much better than the Frontier, IMO. The Robalo weighs around 300# more so draft will be a inch or two more.
I have looked at both, as I am boat shopping also, and prefer the Robalo.
