More Yak Bass from Jackson...

Post by bman »

Wife had plans with girlfriends so I loaded up the yak and hit the lake about 6pm
Didn't take long to start catching fish on top water... about 30 min into it I got this nice one...

A skinny 6 lbs...

I worked my Yak back to a gator hole and picked up a few small ones.
Never caught tailing bass- but I noticed a fish hammering some bait fish and could just make out a tail fin.
I pitched the trusty Torpedo over and the fish CRUSHED it... I knew I had a big ole bass on the line.
The fight was incredible... It turned out to be a huge mud fish.

Did catch a few on jerk baits also.... This one swallowed it!

Great Sunset ended the day

Ended up with over a dozen and the prehistoric monster!

Nice! Bowfins have an attitude for sure! He doesn't look as dark as I would expect from Jackson. Those rascals can mutilate a spinner bait!

Its wild watching a brofin chase a frog. They put out a wake bigger than a kayak. I had one on jackson yank the net out of my hands. The state record is 19lbs and we were easily pulling 12+ pounders out of Jackson 5 months ago. Teeth in all the wrong places and lots of them.
