Drift Sock

Post by red_yakker »

I mostly fish out of an 11 foot kayak, but am looking to buy a 15 foot gheenoe in the near future. I'd like to find a drift sock that will work well with either boat. Any suggestions? Would a drift sock designed for a 15 foot boat be too big for a kayak? Thanks.

RY,

I use one that is way too big for my yak... it's for boat use, but I wouldn't trade it for anything... Really slows me down on a windy day and i think that's a plus. I want to say it's in the 30" range and I know that too big, but it works for me! Got it at BPS!

Thanks, that was my main concern. I didn't know if having one that's too big would cause me any problems.

A 24" Drift chute like this one by Crack of Dawn should be fine.
