Retractable Landing Nets: Feedback?
I've been internet eye-balling retractable landing nets. I like the idea, but, at $80 , am a little skeert to get one without some feedback.
I've fount two versions:
Hibernet by Fraybill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8AWdN7lMLA
and
Bass Lasso http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmEsLUK5ClQ
Anybody?

I got my dad the KVD model from basspro for christmas. It seemed to be a good sturdy net.

Anybody named Rod Presnell from Tallahassee/Gadsden has got to make a good landing net.
I wonder if he would be interested in sponsoring BBF or NFGFC (or cutting BBF NFGFC members a discount)?

We'll find out.

i've got a landing net that where the net extends out that works pretty good that i got down here in perry at wilson's tackle for about 40$ that make those topwater plugs easy to get out too.
Re: Retractable Landing Nets: Feedback?
I broke it about the second time I opened it. Could have been user error though . A small plastic pin at what I would call a hinge broke. Shoved a nail in place of the pin and it works fine now.Jumptrout51 wrote:Ask Eerman......he won one at the NFGFC Christmas party.

Were you fishing or just playing with your net?

What's this "fishing" that you speak ofJumptrout51 wrote:Were you fishing or just playing with your net?

I have my eye on that Frabill. Looks nice. Looks like it would stow away pretty quick in an under-gunnell rod holder on a flats boat too. I have $50 of gift cards with Bass Pro too. I think BPS wanted $70 for the Frabill + s/h. If I take the plunge I will post up a report (corrosion only it won't see much fish slime on my rig).
The thing about the Frabill over the lasso is that the handle length is a lot longer. JMHO.

Re: Retractable Landing Nets: Feedback?
I got my Hibernet in the mail yesterday. I was very happy with the price and the FAST shipping I got from this website:
http://www.fishingtackleplus.com/
First impressions:
The net is BIG. It probably weighs 5lbs. The diameter of the handle/cylinder is very large as well. It would be tough to stick the cylinder in a standard gunnel or console rod holder. The locking mechanism is a little tight (might get better with use). I will measure the width of the cylinder tonight and update. Obviously the net hasn't been on the water with me yet.

Thanks for the feedback, Atticus. I'm definately interested in whether the Hybernet will fit in a rod holder.
