Not local, but this is the largest red I've ever caught. I was fishing with Capt. George Beckwith and his wife in North Carolina's Neuse River during the fall spawning run. We boated a dozen in an afternoon on a slow bite. George estimated the fish at 50 pounds and it was nearly 50 inches long. The article is in the latest issue of Guy Harvey Magazine.

Lighthouse like 44" or some such. hard to measure when they get that big.

Nice bull I was able to put my brother on this past October. Didn't measure it as I was pretty sure it was too big to keep. :-D
